Slovak final Q1 GDP growth 9.0 pct vs 8.9 in 1st estimate

Jun 1, 2007 - The Slovak Statistics Office said it has revised its calculation of first-quarter GDP growth for the country to 9.0 pct from 8.9 pct in its flash estimate, SITA news agency reported.

This means that the Slovak economy grew 2.3 percentage points faster in the first quarter of this year than in the same period of 2006.

This means GDP was 414.6 bln koruna in the first three months of this year, which is up 12.4 pct in current prices.

GDP growth was boosted by an acceleration of foreign demand to 24.1 pct, while domestic demand grew by 3.9 pct, which was the slowest growth since 2004.

Final consumption of households grew by 6.5 pct, which was the same as last year.
